Swimming Day

Grayson is still working on his "swimming skills." He still isn't too happy to be dunked under water, so we're working on that.

Doesn't he look so cute in his "swimmie muscles"?!?

He's made lots of progress this past week with walking. He has taken 10 steps by himself--twice!! It's still pretty inconsistent, but he likes practicing, so it won't be too much longer!

Quick Visit

Last week we met up with Mimi and Papa, and Aunt Bonnie and Uncle William at the Mall of Georgia. They were on a mission trip all week in Lavonia, GA, so we met halfway. We hung out at the mall for about 6 hours--I don't think I've ever been in a mall for that long!! After a tummy full of teddy grahams (this is what my family uses to bribe Grayson to let them hold him!!), Grayson was tired and ready for his afternoon stroller nap.

Please take notice that I finally did cut Grayson's ridiculously long hair!! It looks so much better!!

15 months

Grayson had his 15 month doctor's visit last week. He weighs 22 lbs. and is 32 in. tall!! The doctor was not concerned that he's not walking yet. She said he just hasn't found his balance.
He's really good at standing by himself for longer periods of time now. So, we'll just keep practicing "walking" and he'll eventually get there. He loves to try and walk, he's just extremely wobbly. He has a little walker and a truck that he pushes all over the house and he's even gotten really good at "steering" it so that he doesn't run into things.
He's still not talking too much, either. He says "momma", "dada", "ball", "balloon" (ball and balloon sound the same but we know which one he's referring to)," bear bear", and his newest word is "up". The doctor said that sign language also counts as words, so in that case, he also knows, "all done", "more", and "please". He knows lots of other words that we say, but for now, he doesn't attempt to say them. He just says, "ah" for everything!!
He is a precious, loving little boy that likes to give hugs and kisses! We can't wait to see him accomplish these next few milestones! But until then, I'll enjoy his limited mobility while it lasts!!

First Swim Lesson

On Tuesday, a group of my friends from church got together for a swim at Kay Cook's house. Kay also teaches swim lessons so she is going to work with Grayson as we meet each week. This was actually Grayson's first time in a swimming pool. He loved it!
In the picture above, he's giving Katherine (Kay's daughter) some love--how sweet! This was towards the end of his swim, so he was getting pretty tired.

Here's Grayson hanging out with Baby Laney. He knows a pretty girl when he sees one!! Isn't her swimsuit adorable?!?

Grayson and mommy

Grayson hanging out with Calla Grace before the big swim. Grayson and Calla are only a few months apart, so it will be fun to watch them grow up together.
Finally, I have a video of Grayson's "first swim lesson". The first goal is for him to get used to putting his head underwater. So Kay has a neat little strategy where she blows in his face to try and get him to take a breath before going under. As you will see, he still needs a lot of practice...

I'll keep you updated on his progress.

A visit to Clemson

Bethany and I took a day trip to Clemson on Monday to visit with Emily. We got to visit sweet Baby Wade and Lydda Grace. Christy also brought her 2 precious girls from Greenville--Brooke and Haley. Grayson had a good time playing with Lydda Grace's toys and watching the 2 older girls play.

Grayson actually took about 3 steps by himself while we were there, but he hasn't done it since. That's progress! I guess the girls gave him some motivation!
This is the best picture of all of us that we could get. Bethany is taking the picture, so she wasn't in it. It was a very sweet visit and we hope to do it again soon. This is what Grayson looked like 5 minutes down the road after we left. He was completely wiped out!!

This is a picture of Grayson enjoying his "new ride". Daddy took him for a walk when we got home.

Uncle Andrew

This past Friday, Uncle Andrew came for a quick visit from Nashville. He brought a few of his friends along as they were headed to a wedding in Buckhead. We were able to have lunch together and Grayson got in some good play time. He even wore his special "Nashville" t-shirt for the occasion!

He wasn't too shy around Andrew's friends. He was actually very interested in the Apple on Brad's computer.
We hope Andrew can come back for a longer visit soon!!

It has finally started to feel like summer around here this past week. Grayson loves pushing his truck around. He's still not walking independently!! Will he ever?!?!? We keep waiting....

Someone needs a haircut really bad!

Grayson has been an amazing eater lately. He loves to eat fresh tomatoes for a snack!! I think that's a little weird, but at least it's super healthy.

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer!!
