Birthday Party #2 with the Hayes

Grayson is quite experienced now with birthday parties. There were no tears when the cake came out and I had to blow the candle out quickly as he tried to grab the flame. He ate his whole piece of cake and the presents were, once again, a big hit!

Grayson had so much fun with his cousins, Noah and Sophie. He needed a few more days to get used to all the sweet hugs Noah had to offer. Sometimes he would get scared and cry as Noah came towards him!
We were so thankful to have everyone here! Ryan, Kari, and their kids had a wreck on the way down and then Kari broke her foot early Saturday morning as she was letting the dogs out!! It was quite a weekend for them!! But they were in good spirits and we had a good time regardless of the circumstances.

Poor Auntie Kari with her broken foot!! Please pray for her as she has to manage a 6 month old and a 22 month old at home over the next 6-8 weeks!!

Noah helped the guys build a fire--I'm still not sure why they decided to do that?!
Here's the 3 cousins ready for a walk.
Grayson with his Grandma and Pops
On Sunday afternoon, we all drove 45 minutes up the road to see the grandparents. It was a nice visit with Grandmother and Granddaddy. Grayson was able to show them all of his tricks--they loved it!

So finally the partying is over and I can take down the birthday decorations! Grayson is really going to miss the balloons--it seems to be all he has wanted to talk about the past few weeks. He'll just point and say "b" "b".
This afternoon Aunt Bonnie is coming to stay for a few days! So we've got more company! Yay!

Grayson's First Birthday Party

Two weekends ago (sorry this post is so late!), we celebrated Grayson's first birthday with the Trammell family and some friends. The day started out great. Grayson had the day before to get used to all the family being around (he's not one to like big crowds).
Well, daddy decided to put his birthday hat on him......not a good idea!!

So on with the cake....By the way, Grayson's Aunt Bonnie made these awesome cakes to match his invitations! It was delicious!!
So the cake got better after he discovered the "cake" part--he was not a fan of the icing!
He was still not happy with all the attention!! Are birthdays supposed to be this traumatic?!?
On with the presents....Thankfully, he really liked this part!!

Here he is riding his new rocking horse from Mimi and Papa. He's so serious about riding this horse!!

And after all the excitement, someone is ready for a nap.

This was such a fun day!! We love you, Grayson!!
This coming weekend we will be celebrating all over again with the Hayes family!!

Projects

I am finally posting pictures of the projects that have kept me busy the past few weeks. I was wanting some changes around here and decided that painting was the most cost efficient way to get some results. So.. I started with our table and chairs. I painted them black and I love them! It completely changed the look of our little dining nook.
Then, the china cabinet no longer matched, so I painted it a creamy white with a little distressing. I also love it!

Finally.. our window seat is finished! We finished the painting and I made cushions and throw pillows. It makes for a very cozy spot in our sunroom and great extra storage.

And here's our little almost one year old! Yes, I can't believe he'll be one next week!! I'll keep you posted on the party this weekend!!

Snowy Play Day

This is how our morning started off yesterday.
This was the prettiest falling snow we've had all year. It snowed huge flakes steadily for about 6 hours. Unfortunately, as it accumulated on the ground it was a wet, mushy snow. So, we just enjoyed it from indoors.
Lydia came over to play with Grayson again. They play so well together--she's really good at entertaining him, so I had some free time to get some things done around the house.
It's so funny how he just lets her carry him all over the house. He's half her size!! They were both exhausted by the end of the day--and so was I!

Saying Goodbye

This weekend we had to say goodbye to some very sweet friends of ours. Adam, Bentley, and Ella are moving to San Antonio, Texas. We are so excited for them but we will miss them so much! Chad is really going to miss seeing Adam at work and I will miss hanging out with Bentley on our weekly "playdates". It is also so very sad to know that Ella and Grayson will not be able to play together anymore. They had just become the best playmates and Grayson adored her! They would crawl around on the floor chasing each other and giggling. It was too cute! This weekend we hosted Ella's 2nd birthday "cowgirl" party in our home. It was such a nice ending to our time together.

We are praying for their transition to Texas and hopefully for their return to Atlanta in a few years.
